International Women's Day 2021 Message
The Greek Community of Melbourne invites you to an evening of discussion, food and music to celebrate International Women's Day (IWD) 2021 on Thursday 11th March at the Greek Centre.
The event will commence with an official message for women of the diaspora by the President of Greece, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, Greece's first female president. We are honored that the GCM will be delivering this message at our IWD event.
This year's IWD theme is "Let's all choose to challenge". Collectively, we all have an important role to challenge inequality and gender bias. We need to celebrate women's achievements, especially those of women in our community.
The GCM supports women in community affairs and assisting with pathways through its εσύ:women inspiring change initiative. This initiative also chooses to celebrate and promote the diversity of women within our community.
So, hand up high to show you're in.
Synopsis
The life of Manto Mavrogenous is the life of an unusual woman, an educated native of the islands, who fought during the Greek Revolution in charge of her own army, and lived through the birth of the Greek State. Her personality inspired 19th century European literature, while the Greek State condemned her to oblivion.

To attend in-person you may need to pre-register your attendance, if that's required, instructions will be provided in the description of each event.
Online delivery happens over 3 different platforms in parallel.
You may select the platform that you prefer or is appropriate to your level of engagement.
The 3 platforms we have selected are Zoom, YouTube and Facebook.
The only way to participate in the Q&A portion of the seminar is to use the Zoom platform (we provide a specific link for each seminar to allow you to register via Zoom).
If you have no interest in participating in Q&A the other two platforms will allow you to view the seminar without registration requirements.
Our YouTube channel is at https://youtube.com/gocmv and our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Greekcommunitymelb/
If the speaker allows us to record the seminar for posterity, it will stay up on our page for on-demand viewing. However, if we don't have that permission then we will delete the seminar video after the live-streaming ends.
