Director Yannis Economides

The maker of the multiple award-winning Knifer (GFF 2011) returns with this moody and melancholic Greek crime noir.

The eponymous Stratos (Vangelis Mourikis, also appearing in The Winter in this year's GFF program) leads a double life – baker by day and contract killer by night – in order to help finance the jailbreak of Leonidis (Alekos Pangalos) who protected him when he was behind bars for murder as a youth.

Despite the long list of kills under his belt, Stratos is a man of morals, demonstrated by his willingness to babysit the daughter of his neighbour, Vicky (Vicky Papadopoulou). But, when Vicky finds herself in debt to a local crime boss and a horrifying scheme is hatched to settle her debt, Stratos is inevitably drawn into a violent, betrayal-laden bloodbath that threatens to undermine his most precious ideals.

"A masterful addition to the director's collection of good men trying to right things in all the wrong ways." Cineuropa
