Professor Michael Tsianikas of Flinders University, South Australia, will give a lecture on “Dionysios Solomos: Romanticism, Idealism and the Quest of the Free Spirit”, on Thursday 18 August 2016, as a part of the Greek History and Culture Seminars offered by the Greek Community of Melbourne.
This lecture will be given in Greek language, at the Ithacan Philanthropic Society (2nd Floor, 329 Elizabeth Street, Melbourne) and not at the usual Greek Centre.
Professor Michael Tsianikas studied Literature at the University of Thessaloniki. He did his postgraduate studies in France (PhD) and he taught in french secondary schools. Since 1989 he been based at Flinders University. He has published eight books and numerous articles, and he was founding member of the Logos Centre at Flinders.
He played an instrumental role in establishing the LOGOS Centre in Flinders. He has organised eleven international conferences for Greek Studies and four for the Elderly (CALD). Together with his colleagues, they conceived and organised a Greek teaching program online, for advanced and beginners, open to all Australian universities.
