The Cretan Brotherhood of Melbourne is pleased to invite you to a book launch of a biography of Eleftherios Venizelos, being held at the Greek Centre (Mezzanine, 168 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne), on Tuesday 13th November, at 7pm .
The biography, titled "Eleftherios Venizelos: A story of an adventurous life" is published by the National Research Foundation "Eleftherios Venizelos", based in Chania, Crete and the author is Mr Nikolaos Papadakis, the General Director of the Foundation. It is available in Greek and English.
This publication recounts the most important moments of Eleftherios Venizelos’ eventful life and gives the opportunity to Anglophone readers to learn about the great statesman as a revolutionary, a diplomat and a politician, who linked his name inseparably to the fate of Hellenism and furthermore to the life changing international developments of the first decades of the 20th century. It includes rich photographic material from the Foundations’ archive.
The National Research Foundation "Eleftherios Venizelos" (http://www.venizelos-foundation.gr/en) is one of the most renowned institutions in Greece. The President of the Foundation is the President of the Hellenic Parliament and the Foundation enjoys great international recognition.
We are privileged to have Mr Papadakis himself visiting Melbourne to speak at the book launch, along with fellow speakers Mr Dimitris Michalopoulos, Consul General for Greece in Melbourne and Mr Polychronis Koutsakis, renowned author and expert on Venizelos.
