Marking Yannis Sakaridis’ debut into feature filmmaking is this gripping, politically-charged thriller drawing on the 2005 ‘Greek Watergate’.

After his telecommunications business folds, engineer Dimitris (Alexandros Logothesis) takes on freelance work with a former employer. He starts investigating a suspected phone-hacking operation, which leads him and a colleague, Nikos (Giorgos Pyrpassopoulos), to a seemingly innocuous apartment in the Athenian seaside town of Glyfada. After meeting one of the building’s residents, Panayota (Themis Bazaka), Dimitris finds himself embroiled in an impetuous ethical and economic dilemma.

Coming to the GFF direct from this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, Wild Duck cleverly meshes the omnipresence of Greece’s current economical climate with age-old moral impasses.

About the Director:
Yannis Sakaridis studied Film at the London College of Communication at the University of the Arts in London. He has served as an editor for numerous television programs and feature films, and wrote and directed the shorts Mausoleum (2004) and Truth (2006).
