The Antipodes Festival, the cultural arm of the Greek Community of Melbourne and Victoria, is delighted to be presenting the inaugural Antipodes Writers Festival, proudly supported by Bank of Cyprus Australia. This emerging literary event is set to be adopted as part of the year-long program of the Antipodes Festival, joining other headline events including the Lonsdale Street Glendi, Flavours of Greece, and the Greek Film Festival.
The inaugural Antipodes Writers Festival has been met with much enthusiasm from Melbourne's literary community, evident by the number of much-loved writers, playwrights and journalists willing to share their time and their passion with Melbourne audiences. This Writers Festival is as much about celebrating and defining the contribution of established writers, as it is about looking forward and engaging emerging writers – in all forms - and exploring vibrant, new and exciting projects.
As Melbourne is a UNESCO City of Literature, we realise that our first Antipodes Writers Festival cannot cater for all the talent we are blessed to have in this great city in its short three day program, but with your support and attendance this year, we look forward to expanding the program next year and beyond.
With a multitude of sessions available to the public and a strong emphasis on accessibility, we invite you all to spend a winter weekend with us at the wonderful Wheeler Centre, and become immersed in each inspiring and captivating session.
