| Ancient Greek Program for Adults 2026 |

Learn Ancient Greek by attending our courses offered in 2026 - see below for commencement dates and other relevant details on our Ancient Greek classes for Adults. 1. Ancient Greek for Beginners A 10 week Introductory Course (Ancient Greek 1) in term 1 (January-April) followed by Ancient Greek 2 (11 week course in term 2: April-July), Ancient Greek 3 (9 week course in term 3: July-September), Ancient Greek 4 (10 week course in term 4: October-December). This course is suitable for students who wish to acquire the fundamentals of Classical Greek, a world heritage language spoken by the Athenians in the 5th and 4th centuries B.C. and used by the most famous ancient Greek writers, historians, philosophers and orators. Students will also be introduced to Ancient Greek culture, which formed the basis of western civilisation. No previous knowledge of the language is required. This basic knowledge will be the necessary threshold for those who wish to continue to the next levels where subsequent follow-up courses will be offered. When: Wednesday 6:30-8:30 pm; Commencement date: 28/01/2026 Venue: Face to face classes will be held at Greek Centre for Contemporary Culture, 168 Lonsdale St., Melbourne, or Online classes will be delivered via Microsoft Teams. 3. Ancient Greek - Advanced A 10 week Ancient Greek Advanced 1 Course in term 1 (January - April) followed by Ancient Greek Advanced 2 (11 week course in term 2: April-July), Ancient Greek Advanced 3 (9 week course in term 3: July-September), Ancient Greek Advanced 4 (10 week course in term 4: October-December). Ancient Greek Advanced level knowledge is required (students should have been taught Ancient Greek for at least 200 hours). This course is suitable for students who wish to study pieces of literature written by Classical Greek authors.
