The Greek Language and Culture Schools participated at the Panhellenic Conference entitled «Curriculums for a creative school» which took place at the Hellenic American Educational Foundation (Athens College – Psychico College), on Saturday, 6 May 2017.
Dr Nick Dallas, member of the Board of Directors of the Greek Community of Melbourne (GCM) and member of the Educational Committee of the GCM, together with the Principal of the Greek Language and Culture School, Mr Manos Tzimpragos and Ms Maria Filio Tridimas, teacher and sociologist (Psychico College), presented via SKYPE in the Conference the challenges regarding Greek language teaching.
The Panhellenic Conference was organised by the:
• PanHellenic Pedagogical Society for Secondary Education, • National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Department of Philosophy, Pedagogy and Psychology), • Hellenic American Educational Foundation (Athens College – Psychico College). The Conference took place at the premises of the Hellenic American Educational Foundation (Athens College – Psychico College).
The initiative for the aforementioned presentation was taken by Maria Filio Tridimas, who has been in Melbourne for research purposes. She designed, implemented and presented the “Melbourne – Athens: A Journey of Friendship” Program. The Program involved the collaboration between two Schools, namely Psychico College and the Greek Language and Culture Schools in Melbourne, in order to support Greek Language teaching.
The presentations were very successful. The teachers, who attended the Conference’s proceedings, praised the Greek Community’s efforts. Ms. Apostolos Athanasopoulos, Coordinator of the Psychico College Schools and Director of High School (Psychico College) was at the presentation of Greek Language and Culture Schools, since he supports the “Melbourne – Athens: A Journey of Friendship” Program and the efforts of the Greek Language and Culture Schools. |
