The Greek Language and Culture School of the Greek Community of Melbourne is offering a successful program of teaching Ancient (Classical) Greek for High School students and Adults.
1. Ancient(Classical) Greek for High School Students: Catering for students who wish to increase their cultural literacy, investigate the origins of philosophy, science, politics, rhetoric, history and literature, be inspired from the moral insight and virtue of the classical world, read the architects of western civilization in their own words and finally increase their performance at the VCE Classical Greek examinations with a high score scaling. 2. Ancient(Classical) Greek for Adult Beginners: An 9 week Introductory Course (Ancient Greek 1) in term 1 (January-March) followed by Ancient Greek 2 (11 week course in term 2: April-June), Ancient Greek 3 (10 week course in term 3: July-September), Ancient Greek 4 (11 week course in term 4: October-December).
This course is suitable for adults who wish to acquire the fundamentals of Classical Greek, a world heritage language spoken by the Athenians in the 5th and 4th centuries B.C. and used by the most famous ancient Greek writers, historians, philosophers and orators. Students will also be introduced to Ancient Greek culture, which formed the basis of western civilisation.
No previous knowledge of the language is required.
This basic knowledge will be the necessary threshold for those who wish to continue to the next levels where subsequent follow-up courses will be offered.
